Smile supports the following I/O communication channels.
- RS232 serial communication, through any serial/USB adapter
- Digital I/O communication, via the DIO Delcom USB Board
- LED numeric display, via the Delcom USB Numeric Display device.
Both RS232 and Digital I/O support a notification mechanism: your script does not need to poll for input, you can "subscribe" an object so that it be notified when some input is available (RS232) or when some line has changed its state (Digital I/O).
