Speaking AppleScript with your machine

Like UNIX users do in Terminal, AppleScript users interact with their machine - and with remote machines - from Smile. To this effect, Smile lets you run scripts or lines of script on the fly by pressing ⌘R from AppleScript terminals.

The compiled text may include definitions of properties, variables and handlers, and executable lines. All those definitions are added to the Smile's context and are persistant. Thus in Smile you can test your script line by line as you write it.
